Spatial Options Topic Paper
A spatial option is an approach used in developing a Local Plan to explore how and where development needs could be distributed across its area. Its purpose is to test different scenarios for the allocation of development, based on constraints, opportunities and policy goals. Each option should seek to deliver the full quantum of development needed for the area.
Spatial options should consider ways in which the vision and objectives of a Local Plan could reasonably be accommodated across the plan period i.e. 2023 - 2043.
Feedback can be shared in two ways:
- Pin feedback directly on the document - Pin comments, questions, and feedback directly on the part of the document you want to comment on.
- Provide general comments - Download a copy of the document and use the comment box to share your overall thoughts.
Please note:
- The housing and employment capacities are indicative only and will be refined as the plan-making process continues.
- In some cases the overall capacity of a site or combination of sites in close proximity is greater than that shown in the table; this is because the figure shown relates to that likely deliverable over the timeframe of the SLP.
- The table showing sites under each Spatial Option identifies the site opportunities that meet the principles of that Spatial Option. They represent choices and a process of selection would be necessary.
