Regulation 18 - Hearing from young people
Cheltenham, Gloucester City and Tewkesbury Councils (three of the six councils in Gloucestershire) are developing a Strategic and Local Plan to consider how we meet the housing, employment and transport needs of the 350,000 people who live here now and the extra 36,000 people who may move here in the next 15 to 20 years. We want to make sure that everyone has what they need, recognising that we are all different, to lead happy, healthy lives.
Why is it so important for us to hear from young people (under 25 years old)?
1: Our planning decisions need to reflect the needs and wants of everyone who lives in our communities, including children and young people.
2: Because the decisions that we make now and in the next few years will affect the homes, jobs, transport and services that are available to you and your peers in the future. You are the best people to tell us what matters to you.
Will we act on everything you tell us? No, because we will have to balance different needs and wants, including how much things cost, other services like health and education, and the geography of where we are, but we can promise to explain our decisions in an open and honest way as well as giving you several chances to be part of this process.
