Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury Strategic and Local Plan Home

How about you listen to rhe people?

From "Draft Vision"

Go to the project

The vast majority of normal people will not benefit from plonking tens of thousands of new box homes on fields and tou know it. Do not gaslight us.

When the population declines in the next 50 years, what do you propose to do with all these box homes?

Your objective is to ultimately maximise the profits of big developers. We all know it. You won't acknowledge this will you.

Currently house prices are at an unsustainably high level and without building more homes those prices will continue to rise, putting further strain on family budgets and making it impossible for young people to own a home or even rent affordably. A very large number of ordinary people will benefit financially from high-quality affordable housing. This is not gaslighting, it is simple economics. Why would Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucester councils wish to maximise the profits of big developers? Unless there is actual, concrete evidence of bribery or corruption this is an irresponsible, baseless accusation and smells strongly of conspiracy theory. Finally, as an idea, "how about you listen to the people" is a very strange proposal on a website which is explicitly designed to elicit feedback. That's the whole point of the website!
@Duncan Thacker Firstly there is absolutely relation to house building and prices. The vast majority are not actually "affordable" in any sense. There is a lot of evidence that irrespective of the number of houses built, prices go up. Go and check out the data on this yourself. Gloucester has had a record increase in population last year because of record housebuilding. Prices have in no way become more affordable as you incorrectly insinuate. Of course they want new homes, they want new council tax payers. Of course there is financial gain bore for councils and developers. As for this site, the vast majority of people do not even know it exists. And your build build build narrative, which is complete unsustainable and does not even achieve affordable housing targets, is not in any sense popular in Gloucestershire. Also, why does Tewkesbury and Stroud continue to build eye-sore private housing estates on the edges of Gloucester and Cheltenham? It's disgraceful.
@Duncan Thacker Duncan, you want to open your eyes, I totally agree with Joseph there is no sense in this and to have it imposed by Cheltenham and Tewkesbury NIMBY's it sucks. Elmbridge is currently being brought under the wing of Tewkesbury, WTF you may say but the cunning councillors who are supposed to exist to represent their electorate, represent Whitehall indstead and just go through the motions of supposedly consulting the electorate. In my view they (tories) all deserve to be thrown out at the next set of local & General elections. The plot of land behind Elmbrige court has been designated as developable -there you have the reason..... change the boundary to get their way. Tewkesbury imposing further developments on the edge of Gloucester putting tremendous strain on our infrastructure. Also they have designated Arible land around the balancing ponds at Barnwood Link/A417 as developable, this is green belt for christ sake. I say we should all say a big NO to this SLP cobble. "A record increase in population last year" as you have the facts tell us all where these people came from? London, or further afield, its not local people the houses are big to maximise profits of the developer - lets have the facts not jibberish. Build big homes for Londeners to WFH around Gloucseter = house price inflation. From your comments "Why would Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and Gloucester councils wish to maximise the profits of big developers? Unless there is actual, concrete evidence of bribery or corruption this is an irresponsible, baseless accusation and smells strongly of conspiracy theory" you sound like you may be a local government influencer is that true? If councillors genuinely want ot help young people onto the housing ladder they must build on brownfield sites around Tewkesbury and Cheltenham and Gloucester (if any still exist in Gloucester which i doubt) and build apartments and 2 bed homes not mansions.
