Key worker housing

The recruitment & retention problems experienced by Glos Royal Hospital and the wider health & care sectors are well documented.
In my view the city council should adopt a policy/strategy to provide a significant number of homes for key workers.
I would suggest that all new build affordable housing built within a 30 minute walking radius of Glos Royal Hospital should be designated as Key worker housing.
I am obviously aware that there is already a waiting list for affordable housing, but consider that prioritising the health & well being of the wider population as more important. The Eutopia homes site in Great Western road would be an ideal place to start (I read that Eutopia are already doing this with one of their Exeter developments), as would the 2nd phase of the Whitefriars development at King's Quarter, the former Wessex house site and the Longsmith car park site.
I strongly feel that this issue should be the number one housing priority in the city. In fact it could it ultimately mean the difference between life and death for some patients
