The new SLP needs to get rid of the notion of service villages. The majority of service villages are a complete misnomer because they have no services and planners/developers should not try and pretend that they have.

Totally agree, his misnomer and the leverage it carries is ridiculous. Many small villages are dying while others are being overwhelmed with houses because the local garage garage has a shop. A ridiculous system when you look at Stoke Orchard and Coombe Hill and others. Perhaps we should close the shop at Stoke Orchard and then no more houses!!

Service villages cannot even cope with the residents demands as it is; people have to travel elsewhere to schools and doctors as even the villages that are lucky enough to have some facilities are already full and oversubscribed.
